Student Teaching Handwriting
Students were given the writing prompt "I am lucky because..." the day prior to St. Patrick's Day. Students created a leperachaun craft and then copied the prompt. They were then asked to sound out or were aided in writing the rest of the sentence.
This activity provided students with the opportunity to do something fun and thematic while they practiced their handwriting skills.
Technology-Based Learning
recess.queen_boom.cards.pdfDuring week 10 of student teaching, I utilized boomcards and Kahoot! to create a technology-based SEL lesson. The lesson focused on bullying, kindness, and resilience.
To the left is a PDF file of the boomcards that I created for the lesson. What you won't find in the PDF is the sound bits.
I created the boomcards lesson as a self-driven lesson for students. Prior to the lesson we touched base on the items found in the boomcard slides. However, the boomcards went more in depth for each slide. Students then had the opportunity to interact with certain slides. I found using the boomcards tool to be engaging for students and would use it in both in-person and virtual settings
Below, there is a link to a Kahoot! we did after completing our mini-unit. Prior to the Kahoot! we did go over slides I had chosen from an SEL lesson on kindness that I purchased on TPT. The original slide pack had 116 slides which I had condensed to 23.
